Action aimed at ending a local conflict or an aggression, at restoring a peaceful situation, at enforcing international law, without the agreement of all the main parties, and immediately authorizing the employment of weapons and of all the procedures of air-land combat even if a number of limits can remain: 1. defense of a country threatened or attacked; 2. enforcement of sanctions; 3. defense of our overseas departments and territories; 4. interventions within an international framework. This term used to be used for peace enforcement or peace restoration.
