A combination of large-scale naval battles, battles and attacks coordinated in terms of aim, place and time. They are carried out by a variety of naval forces, independently or in cooperation with major and tactical formations and units from other services, in accordance with a single operational concept and plan in a specific area or a sea or ocean theatre of operations. This is one of the ways in which major naval formations are used in war.
