Temizu n
relig. 'Hand-water'. It refers to the action of ritually cleansing the hands and mouth with water at a temizu-ya, on entry to a shrine. The temizu-ya contains a tank or large basin of running water (but see Isuzu in Suzu), and generally wooden ladles with which to pour the water.
