Jenpro is the trade name of 'fake leather.' "Weave," "robocop," "techno" are all variations of jenpro. It's basically just jenpro with a glossy pattern stamped over it. It's basically the stuff used on the outside of high end pads, primarily on the face. If your pads aren't sliding, it's probably because the inside area is made or covered in nylon (same stuff used on luggage), it's rough but it's rugged and very difficult to cut or pierce, and will basically last forever (slight exaggeration) It is possible to cover the inside areas of the pad that contact the ice with jenpro. It might be costly to do it, however...so look around. One person whom I know does quality work is Sara at protectiveathleticwear.com. She's in Indiana. She also sells raw materials if you want to try it for yourself. I have a general idea of what to do, but am no expert with the needle....so if you do want to try it, I can only help you a little bit. |
