Subject: коммерческие основы
Hello,

I'd be grateful if someone could help me with the translation of коммерческие основы. It occurs in an agreement on rail transport in the following context:

считая необходимой координировать технологию и коммерческие основы перевозного процесса для обеспечения безопастности движения и рентабельности перевозок

It's not clear to me. Does коммерческие основы here simply mean the businesses involved in the transportation process?

Many thanks.

Saj

IMHO, here it means "all kinds of commercial activity" involved in the transportation process".

commercial issues in this context may involve financing, pricing policy, budgeting of transportation contracts etc.

Thanks for your help everyone. Just one more question to Roller about his/her translation of технология as "engineering" - so it wouldn't be good to translate it simply as "technology"? If anyone else would also like to comment I'd be interested to hear your opinion. This is the first transport translation I've ever done.
