а почему иногда говорят on the inside вместо того, чтобы говорить просто inside

нельзя сказать просто

on the inside - с внутренней стороны (inside здесь имя сущ.)
inside - внутри (нареч.)
(I feel it on the inside; The apple's rotten on the inside - звучит странновато, авторски :)
