Subject: OFF: what is wrong with Word? I have this "little" problem over here with Word.I am translating from Russian to English and there are some spots in the text where I cannot delete the Russian. When I try, my computer sees double and i feel like I am drunk and trying to type. It seems that there is some kind of underlying text in some format I cannot figure out. When I try to delete the Russian to replace it with the English, the English just seems to be placed as an overlay. And this is not all. In other parts, when I try to delete the Russian, all my charts and graphs jump all over the place and end up on top of other paragraphs. What do I do?! Does anyone know?! |

1. Check your text in Draft mode (File/View/Normal) 2. Enable all hidden formatting marks to see something behind (File/Tools/View/Formatiing Marks/All) |

check if the RECORD REVISIONS option in TOOLS menu is ON - than the deleted text is not deleted actually from the file, just marked as deleted. Choose DISPLAY REVISED DOCUMENT. After you finish with translation click APPLY ALL CHANGES TO THE DOCUMENT As to charts - seems you delete lines which contain tags to which these charts are bound. Just retype new over the original text - these reference tags shall be saved |

alk, i checked it out with all formating marks, deleted what they had twice and then went to look at it in print layout view and the fixed up page moved on top of the previous page (or is behind the test somewhere) and my computer is still seeing double. any ideas? |

alk, i cant send the file. its all top secret confidential and has headings and things all over the place. i will try a restart. once i pushed the "show formating" button up at the top there while the document is in "print layout view" everything is ok, but once i de-select this option, it freaks out and overlays on the next page. |

| Another tip - try to copy/paste all info from this (maybe damaged) file to brand new one - Ctrl-A to select everything, Copy, then File/New/Blank Document, Paste, Save as... with another name. Open this new file to compare. |
| alk, i did that before even attempting any of the things you suggested here. and it still went buggy on me but seems to have decided, "ok, i have torturerd this poor lady enough... i'll be good now and do what i am told." |

yeah they wouldnt i already found the footnotes in their NEW PDF VERSION. why did they send me an old version to translate is a good question now. this whole thing gets more and more frustrating the more i try to please these people |

haahahahhaahh! i discovered half the problem with this document! the guy who wrote made himself a header but forgot to type the actual text NOT AS PART OF THE HEADER!!! HAHAHAHAH! this gets funnier and funnier everytime i look at it |
