Не из вредности, и не потому, что синонимов в словарях недостаточно, и не потому что "носитель подтвердил" (гм) -

smth & God в силу причин "философического характера" просто не могут ...
"not cancel each other out"
"not reject one another"
or "make one"

Надо поискать или немецкий оригинал, или настоящий английский перевод -- как бы ни вот этот - Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind.

i would have said Science and God are not mutually exclusive (it's the more academic version and I personally think that for a discussion like the one about God and Science, more academic terms are more approriate. we're not talking about hot-dogs here people. we are talking about philosophy, something which takes the tone of academia more often than not when written or spoken about - it's "linguistic" tradition in my opinion)

is the text for regualr people? then you can use Science and God are not mutually exclusive, science and religion do not contradict each other or Reason and God do not cancel each other out.
But depending on the simplicity of the text, you will have to chose.

Is the text very academic in tone? use, Science and God are not mutually exclusive (as i said earlier, we are not talking about hot-dogs and academics like their traditions)
