the needle is most likely a reference to a guage. we will help you get going and the needle on the guage showing your progress or whatever will move forward/into a zone showing even more progres.....

why guage - should be "gauge".

Да-да, стрелка прибора.

В моём случае наиболее удачным вариантом перевода «move the needle» мне показалось «сдвинуть дело с мертвой точки».
