As you know, the amount of power used by the load of an electrical circuit is equal to the current in the load times the voltage across the load, or P = EI.
Мне все ясно, но как быть с формулой? Оставить как есть? Или на русском есть альтернатива?

Увы, только так, как в школьном учебнике физики: P=I*U .

По общему правилу, формулы остаются как есть, но обозначения, используемые в них, в них должны определяться в тексте.
the amount of power used by the load of an electrical circuit, P, is equal to the current in the load, I, times the voltage across the load, E, or P = EI.
или
the amount of power P used by the load of an electrical circuit is equal to the current I in the load times the voltage E across the load or P = EI.
Аналогично по-русски.
