Subject: trailing zero в математике Как переводится trailing zero? Это из учебника по математике за 6 класс в разделе про сравнение дробей. Контекста нет, приводится в списке ключевых слов.Конечный ноль в математическом контексте что-то не гуглится. |
In mathematics, trailing zeros are a sequence of 0 in the decimal representation (or more generally, in any positional representation) of a number, after which no other digits follow. |

I don't know the Russian, but.... If it's in a decimal fraction, a 'trailing zero' is usually a zero at the end of a string of digits which come after the decimal point (Ru: десятичная запятая) and isn't followed by a non-zero digit. Trailing zeros after a decimal point usually have no value, eg: 4.970 and 4.9700 and 4.97000 are all the same as 4.97 Trailing zeros are sometimes added at the end of decimal fractions for stylistic (presentation) reasons -- such as when you're comparing different numbers/values/scores and you prefer to show the same number of digits after the decimal point each time, as in: Player 1 scored 8.823 Player 2 scored 9.160 Player 3 scored 9.392 See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-ZtMa2nqL0 for a demonstration of trailing zeros as used in decimal fractions. |

Trailing zeros after a decimal point usually have no value, but they indicate a certain precision of the calculation. Compare: 1.234 and 1.234000000. Which number is more precise? |

10-4: The second one, because it shows that the 4 in 1.234 hasn't been rounded up from 1.2339 or rounded down from 1.2341 . So yes, the trailing zeros show more precision. |
Я бы назвал это хвостовым нулем, как уже предложено выше. |
