Помогите, пожалуйста, перевести affected population в следующем контексте:

сервисный бюллетень на ремонт двигателя вертолета.

1. See the affected population identified in the Service Letter

2. Outer liner from the affected population can crack, which can release material downstream and damage the turbine section

При этом в Service letter в одном из разделов указано:

ADDRESSED TO: Operators of XXX engines listed in paragraph YYY

Т. е. сервисный бюллетень предназначен для операторов. Как тогда перевести affected population? Целевой персонал? Задействованный персонал? Эксплуатант?

'population' usually means 'the people (or animals) living in a certain area/country', as well as having a few specialised meanings in biology. It's not usually used to refer to the personnel/персонал, eg on a helicopter.

As for '[the] outer liner from the affected population', I've no idea what this means.

Насколько я поняла, страна происхождения документа - Чехия. Спасибо всем ответившим, думаю, вы правы, поскольку в Service Letter указываются также серийные номера двигателей (affected engine), вероятно, affected population относится к двигателям. И тогда " Outer liner from the affected population can crack " уже выглядит не таким странным, поскольку получается "наружная оболочка неисправных двигателей". Всем спасибо за помощь.

population = совокупность, выборка (деталей, агрегатов и т.п.)

If by 'population' the author means to say '(helicopter) engines' --

* 'the affected population' should read simply 'the affected engines', not 'population'.

* 'the outer liner from the affected population' may mean something like 'the outer linings of the affected engines' or 'the outsides of the affected engines'.

Note that the combustion chambers inside some engines can also have their own linings -- so is the author talking about debris from each engine's combustion chamber lining getting into the engine's airflow and being carried into the engine's turbine section???

These are all guesses, though, as the English is so bad. If it's a translation into English, you may find it easier to find the original (Czech?) text and translate it directly from Czech into Russian (say, using Google Translate) to get a rough sense of what the author's talking about.

Получается плохо. Двигатели могут быть вполне исправными, однако вероятность досрочного выхода из строя указанного компонента в них очень высокая или 100%

здесь лучше — на указанных моделях/сериях, на двигателях указанных моделей/серий

Пожалуй, так точнее. (В этом значении слово population используют в статистике, а почему оно переселилось в другую область, не совсем понятно.)
