Помогите, пожалуйста. Застряла на выделенных словах:

Слышу что-то среднее между 'wait to' и 'well'.

Я по этим обрывкам выступлений не могу составить представление о контексте. Что у вас за задание такое вообще?

1) Контекст: it = мышь. Чел рассказывает о том, как он ловил мышь на обычную мышеловку, и, наконец, мышь попалась. И он говорит о том, что, мол, защитники животных осудили бы его за использование мышеловок, мол, это жестокая смерть. И он рассуждает о том, что он мог бы сделать: что ему, как-то поймать мышь живьем? А потом что с ней делать? Разве что подальше от дома отвезти и там выпустить, но мышь все равно ожидает тот же конец: ее поймают на другой кухне на ту же мышеловку.

2)  Транскрибирую аудио.

He doesn't say either "well" or "wait to": he starts to say "end up", but changes his mind in the middle of "end" and instead says "wind up":

"[another???] part of the city and release it into the street or something, and then it's just going to en---- ...... wind up in someone else's kitchen. So I'm sorry, but the brutal truth [is that ......]"

In this sort of context, 'to wind up (somewhere/doing sth)' means the same as 'to end up (somewhere/doing sth)'. In fact, 'to end up' is more common -- so there was no need for the speaker to change it.

Both 'to end up' and 'to wind up' (somewhere/doing sth) imply that you'll find yourself somewhere unpleasant or in an unpleasant situation.

Example:

* 'If you commit any more crimes you'll end up in prison'.
