Subject: The hurricane caused millions of dollars' worth of damage
The hurricane caused millions of dollars' worth of damage

Правильный ли перевод -  Ураган нанес урон на миллионы долларов.

И еще почему dollars' с апострофом, можно ли без него.

Ущерб от урагана составил миллионы долларов.

Не уверен, что вариант кардинально лучше аскеровского, разве что "ущерб", имхо, ближе к теме, чем "урон"...

** почему dollars' с апострофом, можно ли без него **

Not really, if you're writing the value in words rather than using a currency symbol + figures. English-speakers sometimes forget to include it, but strictly speaking the apostrophe should be included, because "........ worth of ........" is a set construction which takes the possessive. ('........ worth of' here just means 'with a value of ........').

The position of the apostrophe depends on whether the dollar(s), euro(s) etc are singular or plural:

* A pound's worth of mushrooms [singular, because it's one pound]

* Two pounds' worth of mushrooms [plural, because it's more than one pound]

* A dollar's worth of cannabis [singular]

* Five thousand dollars' worth of cannabis [plural]

However, if the value is expressed using a currency symbol + figures, the apostrophe is always omitted:

* £1 worth of mushrooms

* £2 worth of mushrooms

* $1 worth of cannabis

* $5,000 worth of cannabis
