Сразу скажу, что вызывает вопросы resoldering plastic... pipes: не вижу of, не знаю такого припоя, чтоб пластик паял.

11. 'Installation/replacement of bathroom fittings (mixer taps, bath traps, bidets, flush toilets and washbasins), drainpipe^† cleaning, etc.'

^† These have to go into the singular, even though they refer to doors/windows/drainpipes in the plural:
* 'door installation' = installation of a door or doors
* 'window installation' = installation of a window or windows
* 'drainpipe cleaning' = cleaning of a drainpipe or drainpipes.
* 'wall painting' (see Amor comment) = painting of a wall or walls.

John, sorry to bother you with silly questions. However, would you clear me about the difference (if any) in the use of ing words in examples below:
1 - suitable for the laying of ceramic tiles
2 - suitable for laying ceramic tiles
Are they both gerund or #2 is a verb?
I feel there must be a difference, though slight, in the practical usage of those patterns.

1. I also assumed it meant tiles, but as the asker hadn't given us the Russian at that stage I didn't want to commit myself. Yes, керамическая плитка = 'ceramic tiles' or 'ceramic tiling'. 'tiling' here isn't a verb, but means 'an area/surface which is covered in tiles', Either would be appropriate in this case.

2. They're not silly questions at all.
* 'the laying of tiles' = a (verb-based) noun, ie a noun which describes an action.
* 'laying tiles' = I would say that in this example this is also a verb-based noun as, although it looks at first sight like a gerund/participle, it actually means exactly the same thing as the first – 'the action of laying tiles'. However, others may disagree with me.

That's a good question, but there isn't really any difference in meaning; they're just alternative ways of saying the same thing. Usage: the first version is slightly more wordy and cumbersome, so in practice most people would probably use the second version in everyday speech/writing as it's more concise.
