It depends on how big the machines are, I'd have thought -- whether they're heavy ones or light ones. If it's heavy ones, I'd put 'machine-building' or 'mechanical engineering'. If it's both, I'd go for 'mechanical engineering'. If it's only light ones -- not sure.

'Machine/machinery' by itself doesn't sound right to me. You need either 'engineering', 'building' or 'construction' with it, I'd have thought.

Машиностроение: includes big machines, mid-size machines, and small machines. It also includes parts for those machines.
"heavy ones" are manufactured by the sector or subsector called ""тяжелое машиностроение"
