There's also a colloquial expression 'to pump adrenalin(e)' (meaning into/around the body) = to take vigorous exercise/to become energised. It could be a short (slang) version of that; I don't know.

It's also used figuratively, as in 'to pump adrenalin(e) into a dying industry'.
