Меня интересует структура предложения:

или

Gas supplies to the ___ market for the [first] five months of the current year were regulated by giving up (by discontinuation of) LNG purchases under spot contracts...

Мне кажется, лучше перефразировать (adjusted? manipulated?). А by хорошо, на мой взгляд.
