provisional acceptance... почему provisional?

Перевожу договор на поставку, монтаж и запуск оборудования.

И вот есть там два таких места.

The carriage of supplies will be covered by all risks insurance from "warehouse to warehouse final destination" in amount equal to 110% of DDP value in euro, valid until the provisional acceptance certificate is issued. Insurance is to be made in the name of the Contractor.
То есть срок действия страховки - до издания (подписания) акта приемки. Но почему provisionsl - предварительного (временного)? Можно предположить, что далее последует окончательный акт приемки - после запуска оборудования.

Но вот далее. О сроке выполнения условий договора.

The period of execution of the contract shall be 5 months from the commencement date fixed under Article 18 of the Special Conditions to the Provisional Acceptance of goods on the site, and end no later than 31 December 2006.

То есть здесь речь - о сроке завершения всех работ по договору и опять - Provisional.
Может быть, provisional здесь используется в смысле provision, то есть - поставка?

I don't think Provisional means provision as in delivery.

Provisional Acceptance Certificate is acceptance on delivery. There is also such thing as Final Acceptance.

My guess is, it is called provisional because supplies are delivered to the site, but they also have to be assembled and made operational. So the physical delivery of goods - warrants provisional acceptance. Once equipment/whatever is up and running, then they create the Final Acceptance Certificate.

The reason for this, again I am guessing, is so that some initial payments can be made. Once Final Cert is signed, the monies can be adjusted/finalised. They do this so as not to wait to transfer monies until after the entire job is done.

Sorry, но отвечу по-русски :). Если все так, как Вы написали, то выходит, что, согласно второму из приведенных мной фрагментов, срок действия договора, а это договор на поставку, монтаж и ввод в эксплуатацию, закачивается после подписания предварительного акта приемки. Как сказал герой одной пьесы,"фигня какая-то получается".

Well, it makes sense if the contract for delivery, assembly and launch ends at some date after the PAC is signed. It will make no sense if signing of PAC constitutes performance of the entire contract. After all, an insurer wants to see PAC as proof that the item was delivered to its destination and insurer is no longer responsible. They still have to assemble and launch, no?

Возможно, Вы правы, я упустил из виду, что приведенные мной фрагменты взяты из Дополнительных условий, а есть и Основные.
