Но что это whichever is less, это относится к natural ground/marshy area? что это за grid interval? решетчатый профиль? reference stone? направо пойдешь - коня потеряешь?

сорри, по существу вопроса вдумываться некогда)), но "размеры скальных пород" писать нельзя - размеры бывают у фракций (на которые еще надо поделить), а "параметры" - не только размеры, но и всякие другие характеристики, т.е. в переводе надо оставить "параметры"

стандартно -- с 200-метровыми интервалами, а если на меньшем расстоянии есть change of ground conditions, то соответственно уменьшается интервал

grid interval -- шаг сетки (скважин на area): у вас же скважины не в линию бурятся, а располагаются по всей area, вдоль и поперёк

может главная мысль именно в этом меняющемся интервале.
