These are also called ―External Partner‖ data sources, since they have historically been used by SAP PC partners to enable easier monitoring of different backend applications. In the IMG configuration screens, you will also notice the term ―GL-MQT‖, which again reflects this history. PC 10.0 generalizes to web services what used to be proprietary interfaces for such partners to implement. This API is the same as described above in section 4.2.5, Netweaver Process Integrator-based Data Sources and Rules, with the exception that the Test method is not available for partners to implement.
The method implementations are, of course, the responsibility of the partner product (or custom middleware). In web services, it is usual for the implementer of a service to publish a WSDL definition of the service, to which the caller then adapts. In our case, however, PC 10.0 has a fixed outbound proxy, and we have published the WSDL which the proxy expects the partner to implement. These are described in SAP Note 1549031. Further details on this data source/rule type can be found in the associated user guide (see section 5, Further Reading).
