Oil bath lubrication may be used in an emergency. Below the pinion and in mesh with same there is a lantern wheel (16) which is foreseen to serve as lubrication wheel in connection with oil bath lubrication.
The hollow baseplate (10) serves as oil sump. A blank flange is inserted in the upper joint (17) in a downpipe (18) for used grease so that the blank flange is the bottom of the oil sump. Consequently blank flange and joint must be oil-tight. Use a heavy oil (FLS GL-0) as lubricant and pour it into the hollow space of the baseplate until the oil covers the lower lantern of the lantern wheel.
