i have about 10 different ideas, but all the situations are different.

It happened when some situation was sized up. The situation had turned out to be not a very good one.
And character said "well, it's just a flat on the bottom".

ok, just saw message -
he might have meant to say that we are flat on our bottom or have landed flat on our bottom - this means jsut things things turned out really bad for us.
or maybe that be have hit flat/rock bottom - meaning this is the worst that can happen to us (but i dont think this is the one)

меня смущает слово "just". Ведь если это "сели в лужу", или "полная ж*па", то почему just?

Патамушта слово-паразит. Приплыли, гасите свет, сушите весла, как, похоже, Зенит с греками. В данном контексте служит для усиления. Именно потому что "полная".
