The structure and operation principles of the self-locking device in the first embodiment are described as follows. The above two frictional contact faces form an angle a, with the lock block being sandwiched between the faces. A spring may be provided to apply a pretightening force on the lock block along a direction from the lock block towards the vertex of the angle a,
so that the lock block may be kept in contact with the frictional contact faces, and the locking member may be locked by the lock block which is in frictional contact the two frictional contact faces. If a force opposite to the pretightening force of the spring is applied to the lock block to separate the lock block from the frictional contact faces, the lock block is 15 released and hence the locking member is unlocked. That is, the locking member can be unlocked by applying an external force to the lock block.
