For the test method 12240 (see section 3.2.P.5.2 Analytical Procedure) the test solution is placed in a cuvette, held in a slanted position and rotates slowly on its longitudinal axis.
The cuvette contains a stainless steel ball on the bottom. Gravity keeps the ball on the deepest point of the cuvette. Coagulation time is measured after adding the Thrombin containing solution to a Fibrinogen solution. When coagulation starts-up the Fibrin clot pulls the ball along.
