As used herein, the term "complex shape" refers to a shape (e.g., of an opening within a workpiece) or a shape of a part (e.g., a bonded abrasive body) that has a contour defining a re-entrant shape. A re-entrant shape does not allow a mating form to be removed in a direction normal to one of three axes (i.e., x, y or z). A "re-entrant shape" can be a contour that is re-entering or pointing inward, which is wider at an inner axial position than at an outer axial position (i.e., an entrance). An example of the re-entrant shape is a dovetail slot, a keystone shape, and the like.
