корячиться, пахать, вкалывать на грядках

Just a few ideas:
вкалывать на грядках: I was slaving away (weeding/working) on those beds.

I presume that пахать is given in the meaning of вкалывать here:
to slave away;
to break one's back (doing something);
to work one's backside (hiney, bum and all the other synonyms here) off;
to work like a horse;
to split one's sides;
to do a back-breaking labour ("this is a real back-breaking labour");

имхо: предлагаю заменить "on those beds" на "in one's garden" или "gardening". А то как-то мрачно-обреченно звучит:)) Я, мол, на тех кроватях отпахала... 3 смены.%((

To Беспомощное дитё: You could use "vegetable patches" for "на грядках" (I was thinking of the flower beds when I wrote this:)

To Serahanne: Omit the indefinite article from the last version on your list and changing labour (which isn't enumerable) to work would make it sound less trite.
