В разных источниках встречается по-разному.

В иностранных was.

не, вобще-то даже носители обычно в этом случае скажут "if I were you"
но при этом "if I was a girl" - хотя тоже надо бы "were"
подозреваю, что говорят так, как фонетически сподручнее

If I was... - informal.

Если носителям "пофиг" какой вариант или они еще терпимо относятся к классическому варианту if I were you, то все-же лучше его и писать.

А в принципе, без разницы.
