Выражение встречается в следующем контексте:
"The incident case-control methodology avoids many of the inherent biases of typical case-control studies because new cases are identified prospectively, and thus provides strong evidence for a substantial burden of Hib disease in Dhaka and a high degree of effectiveness of the vaccine"

т.е. получается (ИМХО):
исследование случаев первичной заболеваемости методом "случай-контроль" в сравнении с типовым исследованием методом "случай-контроль"

(в первом исследовали тех кто заболел этим заболеванием впервые, а во втором случае всех заболевших..)
