The safety system consists of two small pipes connected to the refiner housing. The pipes are purged with high pressure sealing water from the refiner. Each line is representing a limit in housing pressure (High and High-High). In each line there is a pressure switch, a purge meter and a flow guard. The flow can be set with the hand valve (A) to correct value on the flow guard, approx 1 litre/minute. The alarm limit for the flow guards is 0.5 litre/minute and a flow under that limit interlocks the production on the refiner. This because there is not enough reliability in the control of the housing pressure when the flow is too low.
