That link may be unreliable: 8. Kick loose ( make yourself comfortable, relax) "I like kick loose" - what sort of English is that? Suggest that "kick loose" means variously: to take things easy/relax/put all your problems to one side/not get involved/not worry The more common phrase is"hang loose". |
I know. They omitted "to", but judging by the rest, the meaning was conveyed properly. |
In fact, they may have copied that from here: http://beckroi.blog.163.com/blog/static/36164338200732555237159/ |
А это не из L.A. Confidential by James Ellroy? Давно перевели. В сети можно найти. Old Russ wanted a comment. Jack crossed himself: his first time since the orphanage, where the fuck did it come from. Перевод (не знаю чей): Старина Расс ждет ответа. Джек перекрестился – впервые с приютских времен. Чудеса, да и только! |
т.е. в смысле "все выложу" - cut loose , let go 3. To speak or act freely; disregard ordinary limits. |

Да, абсолютно верно! Хотел написать и это значение, но бес противоречия меня сдержал. But, again, we don't have the kinds of documents relating to the decisionmaking process that the government used to continue those operations and what their assessment was. And I think that the committee needs to put pressure on the government, especially the intelligence divisions and the legal offices of the Department of Energy and other agencies, to kick loose those |

Yes, I think "все выложу" is right here. Well done. However, I will add that the phrase is so slangy as to be barely comprehensible to many English native-speakers, American or otherwise. Mind you, I think the translator was a bit (perhaps forgiveably) lazy opting for "мне нечего скрывать". As for the phrase "Maybe he pulled his pud while he looked at his own goddamn shitrag, I don't know." it seems the translator either didn't understand fully or toned things down in the interests of decorum.... Unless, that is, there's another meaning to the word "статейка", which HarryWharton&Co don't know about. If so, please enlighten. |
