я не уверен, что знаю, что есть "shifting friendship", но shifting тут явно как прилагательное -- смотрИте соотв. секцию в МТ и осмысляйте ....

of course, bright - способный, смышленый, etc.
Funny is different from witty. Funny (I mean funny ha-ha) really means happy. Witty means a smart ass.
