Within the eld of cognitive engineering and psychonomics models are used to describe
different aspects of behavior.
In this course, both the notion 'model' and 'modeling' play a central role.
e rst part of the course will concentrate on the function of models in cognitive-psychological research. The discussed models will be classified on content (process models, data describing black box models, on analogy based biological model) as well as
on form (verbal, symbolic, rule based computational; sub symbolic, neural networks based
computational and mathematical models).
