Контекст: Как сообщили агентству «Башинформ» в информационно-аналитическом управлении администрации Уфы, в первый день нового, 2010 года, в 27 уфимских семьях родилось 28 детей — 14 мальчиков и 14 девочек.
В 16 семьях это первый ребенок, в восьми – второй, в одной –третий ребенок, а еще в одной – шестой. А в одной семье родилась двойня – два мальчика.

Не знаю как быть со вторым предложением. Вот что получилось:

According to the research and information department of Ufa Administration, 28 babies were born in 27 Ufa families on the first day of the new 2010 year.
This was a firstborn in 16 families, a second baby - in eight families, a third one - in one family and in one more family it was the sixth child.

Спасибо, %&$! тем более что меня давно интересовал вопрос употребления артикля с учреждениями, начинающимися с "Уфимский".

То есть Уфимская Академия Экономики и Сервиса тоже будет THE Ufa Academy...?

Да, есть и исключения. Особенно в США.
Вы не соглашаетесь с общим правилом грамматики. Подумайте, если в этом резон?) Я вот грамматику хорошо знаю, поэтому и привел эту ссылку. Но если Вашу альма-матер принято называть с артиклем, то никаких возражений нет, но это, еще раз, повторяю исключение.

dozaikin, если ун-т/инс-т/школа/музей/фонд "имени кого-то" - обязателен артикль the
Cory_ander, видимо, ваши преподы считали, что их университет - это не "Университет Башкортостана", не географическая принадлежность, что требовало бы в переводе нулевого артикля, а "Башкирский университет", потому и ставили артикль the
