Hi,

I'm translating a blurb for a film and having difficulty telling a if a quotation from it is idiomatic or not. It is about a Belarusian girl who goes on protests for freedom of speech. About this she says: "У меня такое впечатление, что в нашей стране под каким знаменем не выйдешь, все равно будешь судим и наказан"
Is she simply saying that, even if you don't protest such issues you'll be punished anyway, or is there something more here that I'm missing?

No. I would say it's not about protesting as such.
It is like: no matter what are you protesting against (on which side you are, under which banner you are protesting), you will be punished anyway (cause you ARE protesting)
