У нас сейчас избивают до комы, до состояния, когда люди едва выживают и больше не возвращаются к журналистской деятельности.

Here in Russia, reporters are beaten into coma, to a point (degree?) they are hardly able to survive after assault and they don’t get back to newsmaking any more.
