Subject: take pan (в тексте про спорт)
Уважаемые!

Кто знает что такое "take pan" в тексте программы баскетбольных соревнований, в предложении

you will take pan in basketball clinics/drills

А заодно и drills - здесь имеются в виду тренировки?

Заранее благодарю.

could it be 'take part'?

Нет, это не ошибка. Мне кажется, это что-то типа принятия ванны, но я не уверена.

I would advise you against using принятия ванны. It makes absolutely no sense. Why are you so sure it isn't a typo? If it's a brochure for a basketball clinic, "take part in", makes perfect sense. The only other meaning of 'pan' that could possibly have been used (although very strange) is 'to criticise/express negative opinion', but again, it wouldn't really make sense here.

I agree with you that "criticise" does not fit. This is a kind of activity.
In some other text in the Internet I found

Kids come here to take pan.

If 'to take part', then what does it have to do with a clinic? Taking some treatment, such as грязевая ванна, does make sense. But, of course, I am not sure.
Thank you, Kath, anyway for your ideas.

Here "clinics" =extensive training with emphasis on one’s weaknesses (in playing basketball), a boot-camp.

Hi Truth Seeker,

Did you find it (the truth)? :).

Thanks. This sheds light.

But what about taking pan?

And here is the correct answer. The text ... had been scanned and not checked for spelling!
This became clear when I reached the last page. The image of the page was sent to me, and, yes, Kath, you were right: it was "take part".
