Контекст:

The human view of what is dangerous and what is not tends to be simple. If it is bigger than a human and ACTS FEARS THAN FEARS IT IS. Until very recently people had no doubt about animal that looked and behaved like this: they'd tear person's head off. Aggressive human hunters have occasionally received the show of "chest beating". Some have even been attacked by gorrilas. But never without cause. Gorillas are only hostile to humans when their lives are threatened. They are peaceful plant eaters who spend their days moving from bush to bush, apparently contemplating life as they go and playing with the babies. Just because the animal can hurt a human it does not mean it wants to.
