Выражение встречается в следующем контексте:
Вторую плавательную практику проходил в судоходной компании ООО «С. РОУД Ко, ЛТД» г. Владивостока в должности вахтенного моториста на т/х «Неолит»

I passed second shipping training (?) in shipping company "Open Joint-Stock Company S. ROAD Co., LTD” of Vladivostok in the capacity of a engineering watch (?) on board of motor vessel "Neolit".

as an on-duty mechanic, maybe? i m not nautically profiscient, though, so take this with a pinch of salt

Just noticed - shipping training - sounds like someone training in shipping parcels, not nautical practice. Consider:

I completed my second seaman training course at the Vladivostok Open Joint-Stock Shipping Company S. Road Co., Ltd. as a duty/watch engineer aboard the motor ship/vessel Neolit.

motorman - моторист (у американцев это будет какой-нибудь помошник или ассистент механика)
т/х - m/v (m/s)
engine room watch - вахта в машинном отделении
watch keeping - несение вахты
training - в моих понятиях это теоретическое обучение (в классе на учебных пособиях) и в данном случае не годится

su - i would have to disagree with you about training being theoretic. there's nurse's training, and they actually attend to patients, personal training where one actively works out at the gym, computer training, which is hands on computer learning, etc.
