Prior to the banks and industrial concerns formally acquiring ownership, they were already subsidising the media covertly. This practice is called euphemistically "hidden advertisement." It is simply the taking of money to broadcast or publish a favourable story for someone under the guise of objective news coverage. The customer may be a businessperson or a politician. Similarly, one can also buy unfavourable coverage for a competitor or opponent. Russian economist and media expert Alexei Izyumov writing in Newsweek said, "While the government is applying pressure on the media from above, the new rich are buying favourable coverage." |

Не совсем так. Темник - список тем, которые должны быть освещены в новостном выпуске. Берди пишет: This is the word used in Ukraine to describe the official instructions given to news agencies on what news to report and how to "spin" it. It would seem to come from the word тема -- topic -- but has the echo of темнить (to obscure) and тёмный -- dark, shadowed, shady, fishy. Perhaps you hear that echo because of the Russian phrases чёрные технологии (dirty tricks, literally "dark/black technology") and чёрный пиар (smear campaigns, literally "black PR"). (...) могу на выходных собрать всю Берди за год или около в один файл и кинуть на мыло кому-ниб одному для последующего дележа. Только тихо!! я боюсь авторского права!!! У нее много забавного, прошлая колонка была про слово "колбасить/колбаситься" |
