Subject: please ,check my translation of the sentences
1. We were told that they ENCOURAGED the market research (do we need to use PAST PERFECT here or PASt Simple is ok? )

4. He said that he APPRECIATED the support ( Should we use PAST PERFECT here)?

this sounds OK
2. Is _he a Dinamo fan_? By no means, I remember him saying that he WAS _a Spartak fan_ ( Shoud we use WAS or IS here) -- "was" is fine
3. I heard that this contest WILL BE HELD in Ekaterinburgh next July. -- fine
