Подскажите, пожалуйста, как правильно сказать о численности населения - 100 thousand people или 100 thousand persons?

если есть в фразе слово population, то просто 100,000
population: 100,000

Я это уже увидела в гугле, но это таблица, где в шапке указано, в каких единицах исчисляется население.

Можно, действительно, написать POPULATION а ниже 100,000.
А в каких еще единицах может исчисляться население, не в головах же крупного рогатого скота?

В общем, выкину его пока, раз population позволяет это сделать. А в следующий раз подумаю об этом заново.

teylora, Вы неправильно меня поняли. Я склоняюсь к "people" в Вашем случае. Это я так, между прочим (авось пригодится). Похоже, что не вас, а статью поняла неправильно. Давно очень училась. Сейчас восстанавливаю архивы памяти. А словариком этим American Heritage Dictionary я пользовалась ещё в бумажном исполнении, когда в Америке училась. Спасибо, что напомнили про его существование.

we use word Person just singular. One person, first person, second person etc.
