Помогите, пожалуйста, понять, что такое "input of the safety contact" - ввод безопасного контакта?? Но что он из себя представляет? Фраза: "This is the text which will be displayed if the input of the safety contact is on".
Также встречается в дальнейшем контексте:

Safety contact:
The equipment has a digital safety contact for detection e.g. if a door is open. This contact is supplied by a +5VDC voltage. So a potential free contact can be used for detecting an open door.
(T) Do not plug an external voltage supply to this contact. The equipment will be damaged!
This input is always monitored. if the input is high (the contact is closed) the program will display a warning signal. During a test the input will also be monitored and the test will be immediately interrupted if the contact is closed. The text of the display can be changed by CTU.ini.

В целом текст малопонятен, особенно фраза "if the input is high". Что за "high input" и как это сказать по-русски?
external voltage supply - источник внешнего напряжения (или питания)? Каким образом его "plug to contact"?
potential free contact - беспотенциальный контакт?

Звучит довольно глупо, но мне просто не ясно, как происходит весь этот процесс...
