Fire Resistive (FR): All construction is non-combustible or limited combustible. Fire resistance ratings of bearing walls, columns, beams, trusses, floors, and roofs are 3 hours or better. Heavy Noncombustible (HNC): Same as fire resistive, but fire resistance ratings are 2 hours or better.
Light Noncombustible (LNC): All construction is non-combustible or limited combustible. Bearing walls, columns, beams, trusses, floors, and roofs have 0 or 1 hour fire resistance rating. St. Deck Noncombustible (SDNC): Masonry exterior walls. Non-combustible floor construction. Metal deck roof with a listed or approved "Fire Classified" or "Class I" non-combustible roof covering. St. Deck Combustible (SDC): Masonry exterior walls. Non-combustible floor construction. Metal deck roof with unlisted or unapproved combustible roof covering.
Masonry Joist (MJ): Masonry walls. Wood joist roof. Masonry, Berkeley Roof (MBerk): Masonry exterior walls. Berkley style roof construction - Vi inch plywood on 4 inch wood purlins spaced 8 feet on center. The purlins are secured to glue-laminated beams that are not less than 5 inches thick.
Masonry Plank on Timber or Steel (M P/T): Masonry exterior walls. Heavy timber columns, beams, and trusses - or steel columns, beams and trusses with 1 hr fire resistance rating. Heavy plank flooring and roofs. (Minimum columns 8 inch x 8 inch, beams 6 x 10, trusses, 4 x 6, floor planks 4 inch thick and roof planks 2 inch thick.)
Frame, Plank on Timber (F P/T): Same as M P/T, but exterior non-bearing walls may be wood.
Heavy Frame (HF): Wood frame walls. Heavy wood frame columns, girders, and trusses. Heavy plank flooring and roofs. (Minimum columns 6 inch x 6 inch, beams 3 x 8, frame trusses with 4 inch members, floor planks 2 inch thick and roof plywood 1 inch thick.)
Frame Joist (FJ): Wood frame walls, floors and roof - with or without fire proofing.
