Друзья, объясните в чем разница между
self-tapping screw and
thread-forming screw)))) -в мультитране дается как и то и то самонарезающие винты, может я чего не доглядела...(((

Я думаю, что это одно и то же. Саморезы.

Self-tapping is the ability of a screw to advance when turned, while creating its own thread. Self-tapping screws are commonly used with sheet metal and plastic components. This ability is created sometimes by having a gap in the continuity of the thread on the screw. These edges can cut their own threads as the screw is driven in to the material, usually wood or plastic. Self tapping screws also exist for metal. They function by having a cutting edge which drills away the material, making a hole for the screw to go into.
Self tapping screws are most useful when doing metal and wood work.

Я тоже так думала, пока в инструкции не наткнулась: одно крепите посредством ST screws, а другое посредством TF screws....(

Sheet Metal Screw (Self-tapping Screw, thread cutting screws) - Has sharp threads that cut into a material such as sheet metal, plastic or wood. They are sometimes notched at the tip to aid in chip removal during thread cutting. The shaft is usually threaded up to the head. Sheet metal screws make excellent fasteners for attaching metal hardware to wood because the fully thread shaft provides good retention in wood.

self-tapping screw - самонарезающий шуруп (вкручивается в материал, нарезая в нем резьбу)

thread-forming screw - самонарезающий винт (вкручивается в предварительно выполненное отверстие, нарезая в нем резьбу)
