"TG" встречается во всех вариантах текста (у меня их 6), так что, вряд ли, это опечатка. В русском варианте перевода книги эта фраза звучит как "Попытайся вытащить". Как можно расшифровать TG?

У меня тоже TG, но у меня не книга, а электронная версия. А не может это быть ошибка распознавания? Например, вместо try? Или у Вас книга?

Там все-таки TG или try? Если TG, то что бы это могло значить?

It was no easy task. Hermione's hand was clamped so tightly around the paper that Harry was sure he was going to tear it. While Ron kept watch he tugged and twisted, and at last, after several tense minutes, the paper came free.

Там все-таки TG или try? Если TG, то что бы это могло значить?
