survival decision

Помогите, пожалуйста перевести словосочетание survival decisions и, вообще, полностью второе условие, при котором лечение будет неэффективным. Я не совсем понимаю логику.

Пациент принял некоторые решения, из-за которых он будет скрывать припадки (речь идет о лечении астмы) от лечащего врача или другого объекта переноса, если пациент поправится.

Возможно, я неправильно интерпретирую слово deprivation, не знаю...

With regard to the patient, the transference relationship will not be sufficient to reduce symptoms when:
- parts of the patient's Child ego state use the doctor's behavior as an alibi for displaying passivity or rebellion;
-the patient has made survival decisions that would result in deprivation of strokes from the physician or another transference object if the patient became healthy.
