Но какая бы сила ни применялась, суть остается неизменной: используя имеющиеся преимущества, политик пытается навязать обществу план, отвечающий интересам той социальной группы, которую он представляет. Если же он не в состоянии добиться реализации желаемого социального проекта силой, ему приходится вступать в переговоры и заключать компромиссы с другими политиками в целях координации различных социальных интересов. Иными словами, деятельность политика неизбежно связана с такими понятиями, как групповые интересы, сила и воля, а также компромисс и переговоры.

When championing the interests of a particular social group, the politician tries as best as he or she can, to restrain the opposite groups. This approach does not inevitably mean a war. It may concern a moral or ideological force or the force of law. But in any case, the essence is unalterable: taking advantage of the position, the politician does the best to impose the plan that furthers his or her social group interests on the society. If the politician fails to do it by force he or she has to enter into negotiations and seek middle ground with other politicians in order to coordinate differing social interests. In other words, political activity is invariably associated with such notions as group interests, power, will, compromise and negotiations.

But in any case, the bottom/punch line remains as follows: taking advantage of the position, the politician using his advantageous position as a leverage does his utmost/makes the best endeavor/effort to sell society to a scheme that furthers the interests of his or her social group. Whenever a politician fails to achieve it by force he or she is compelled to seek negotiations and make deals with other politicians to be able coordinate varied social interests. In other words, political activity is invariably associated with such concepts as group interests, power, will, compromise and negotiations.

Неплохо для начала. Язык более-менее грамотный. Понравилось championing, seek middle ground.

Однако есть недочеты:

1) Слово "сила" не упоминается в первом предложении, отчего "force" в третьем становится не вполне оправданным или сразу понятным.
2) Найдены неточные варианты essense, unalterable, taking advantage of the situation, differing, does the best, coordinate.
3) Неверные артикли - the politician, a war.

Consider this version:
When championing the interests of a particular social group, a politician uses every opportunity to suppress the opposite groups by force. This approach does not necessarily mean war. The force concerned may be moral (ideological) or legal. But that doesn't change the politician's core idea: to use all available leverage to impose on the society a plan which best suits the interests of a particular social group. However, if coercive methods fail to push his social agenda through, the politician has to enter into negotiations and seek middle ground with other politicians in order to reconcile their different social interests. In other words, political activity is invariably associated with such notions as group interests, power, will, compromise and negotiations.

с другой стороны, у меня очень криво получилось с "core idea"
лучше было бы "key goal"

Что касается артикля(the politician), вот предыдущий абзац:
Если рассматривать идеального политика, взяв в качестве оного обобщенный тип, сложившийся в странах с устоявшимися демократическими институтами, то его главная социальная функция - представительство и защита интересов различных социальных групп. (Такая социальная группа не обязательно должна быть широкой: политик может выражать интересы узкого, например, собственно политического или политико-экономического, клана).

наш вариант:
If to consider an ideal politician, whose image was formed in the countries with established democratic institutions, then his or her main social function will be to represent and protect interests of different social groups. (Such social groups are not necessarily wide: the politician may defend the interests of a small political or economic clan).
это не подразумевает дальнейшего использования the politician?
