barium meal - это не пища с добавлением бария.

Разница с barium swallow в количестве "бариевой каши" - один глоток (вообще так и говорят - "глоток бария") или больше, и еще для barium meal может быть двойное контрастирование с газом).

И в том и в другом случае снимок пищевода будет эзофагографией (а может и -скопией, это еще как смотреть). Но если съесть сульфата бария побольше, одной эзофагографией дело не ограничится - можно снимать и более дистальные отделы (желудок, ДПК).

Наверное, я бы переводил как рентгенологическое исследование с глотком бария и с рентгенологическое исследование с большим наполнением барием.
