Подскажите, пож-та, "в левом углу картины" - in the left-hand corner или все-таки in thе left corner. А про комнату то же самое?

i guess it could be either way, with relation to pictures, at least. just be consistent though, once having adopted "left-hand corner," use it throughout the text.

Обычно уточняется, о каком из двух левых углов идёт речь.
Примеры:
in lower-left corner
in the left lower corner
in the left upper corner of the image
into left-upper corner
in the upper-left corner

Если хочется писать красивее, то сначала идет верх-низ, а потом лево-право: in the upper/lower left corner, etc
